NOTICE FOR ALL WI-FI PROVIDERS

                     

    SUBJECT  :-   Security about Wi-Fi Connectivity.

                              It is learned that you are providing Wi-Fi connectivity to the users. It is brought to your notice that if the unsecure Wi-Fi connectivity is given, may be misused for illegal activity. It is observed that in connections with some of the Bomb Blast incidents in India, the emails were send through Wi-Fi connectivity which was unsecured. So It is requested that the permissions of  Wi-Fi security from your side should be secured & you should adopt the necessary procedure, so that it will not be misused.

                              The necessary steps which will ensure the secured Wi-Fi connectivity as enclosed here with. You may also adopt / use more major mentioned in the list. It is essential that in case of misuse of email Wi-Fi facility the culprits & the machine used by him must be traced with logs.

We hope positive co-operation from your side.

Necessary strict legal action will be taken against any default including Wi-Fi  facility provider.

SOME  SUGGESTIONS FOR WIRELESS NETWORKS

1) Before using your wireless router  turn on security .

2) Use WPA or WPA-PSK security, not WEP.

3) Turn on Access Control       A) Don’t issue User ID without Photo ID.

                                                 B) Use Mac ID Filtering

4) Change the Web Administrators password.

5) Change the SSID.

6) Turn off SSID broadcasts.

7) Place the router in a physically secure place.

8) Turn off File and Printer sharing.

9) Maintain Logs for client side IP address.

10) Upgrade to latest software and hardware.
